I was thirteen and a half when I began university.

I was thirteen and a half when I entered university at the University of Science and Technology of China’s Special Class for Gifted Young (中科大少年班). By eighteen and a half, I had earned my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and headed to the United States for graduate research.

Science gave me my baseline setting: look under the hood, question the obvious, and keep going when the comfortable explanation falls apart. My curiosity didn't stop at code; it wanted to test itself against the real world.

01 · Subsea Engineering

First, the sea.

My career began far from boardrooms or trading floors, in deepwater subsea engineering. As a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), I designed underwater robots—ROVs and AUVs—and headed offshore whenever a problem was too complex, critical, or slightly crazy for standard playbooks.

I even ran offshore operations while pregnant. There was the ocean, the immense hydrostatic pressure, the heavy machinery, and the quiet satisfaction of forcing complex engineering to perform hundreds of meters underwater. And, the best part is, the considerable perk of eating four meals a day on the vessel.

Subsea engineering is a masterclass in intellectual honesty: a brilliant theoretical design still has to work under ocean pressure. Physics was entirely unmoved by my presentation skills. I learned to understand the system, pinpoint its true constraints, and design for ground reality rather than appearance.

02 · FinTech, Web3, AI Agents

Across the water.

Then the oil downturn hit, and the map changed.

In 2017, I pivoted to Wall Street, joining an alumni hedge fund and teaching myself options and futures trading from zero. I quickly realized I was no day-trader: selling options in a quiet market wasn't going to pay Manhattan rent, nor did it offer the systemic leverage I craved. I shifted to early crypto protocols and blockchain infrastructure as an angel investor, placing early bets where code met game theory. Many projects dissolved; the rare wins changed the game entirely.

That same year, my husband took a faculty position at the University of Macau, and our kids moved with him. Reluctantly, I began navigating Macau, learning firsthand how being an American citizen can turn something as simple as opening a local bank account into an exercise in bureaucratic friction.

By August 2018, I landed in Hong Kong as Co-CEO of a publicly listed company, followed by my appointment as Executive Director on 18 April 2019. My education and engineering background had opened the door; I still had to learn how to inhabit the boardroom.

My friends started calling me Robin, after the North American bird whose song signals spring. The name stuck. Bin belongs to my childhood, USTC, and early engineering; Robin belongs to the life that unfolded across Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Wall Street. Both are the same person: Robin Xie, Bin Xie, 谢玢, 謝玢.

What followed was a high-velocity run building across exchanges, digital wallets, stablecoin rails, merchant protocols, digital identity, cross-border payment infrastructure, and capital allocation. Tokyo remains a favorite chapter: mapping out financial architecture in our Roppongi office, deep late-night conversations with visionary builders, and extraordinary teppanyaki at the Imperial Hotel.

03 · Entrepreneurship

So, naturally, I kept working.

Then came the pandemic, and the unromantic, grinding reality of iteration. Most ventures I tried didn't survive. Some died before an MVP; others proved that a working product doesn't guarantee a market.

Living through those failures took years of hard decisions, letting things go, and resetting. Then, one venture succeeded. The exit handed me total financial freedom, and with it, the ultimate leverage: the unrestricted freedom to choose what to work on.

So, naturally, I kept working.

Today, I invest across public and private markets, directing capital toward AI infrastructure, energy and power systems, robotics, Physical AI, stablecoins, and programmable finance.

My technical work follows the same principle. RobinOS, my quantitative research laboratories, and AI-native workflows automate human intent into products. They decouple probabilistic exploration from deterministic controls, making high-level execution observable, reproducible, and fast.

04 · Transformation

One human. Many agents.

Seemingly jack of all trades, experts in none? For me, they all look intrinsically the same, in first-principles and high-dimensional view. They are simply complex system with nature-borne or man-made chokepoints.

Engineer. Executive. Entrepreneur. Investor. AI-native builder. Lover. Friend. Muse. Mother. Those are all hats I wear and roles I cosplay in the worldly sandbox. What really drives me is the insatiable curiosity to understand and to expand my horizon beyond borders. As of now, my fascination with iSunTV started since 2026-09-09 when the legacy satellite TV website crashed and burned; salvation was not achieved by scattered humans, but by myself (the "one-person-company") and a team of AI agents.

Much of my time now goes into transforming iSunTV, a legacy licensed satellite TV media company, into a live AI-native news lab, streaming commerce, and one-person-company labs with agents and swarms. I move between strategy, product, capital, and code.
